After starting her legal career in business and entertainment litigation, Harlee Gasmer has devoted her practice exclusively to family law from 1991 through 2002, and again since 2013, working with her mentor, Stephen Kolodny, who often referred to her as his “first partner”. During the nine year period not actively practicing law, Harlee managed a large, multi-state real estate development company, playing an active role in acquisitions, sales, leasing, financing and property management. Harlee’s background in all areas of real estate, as well as her having maintained extensive relationships within the entertainment industry, provide Harlee with a unique advantage when the issues to be resolved or litigated involve real estate and/or entertainment assets.

A native Angeleno, Harlee specializes in complex dissolution matters that involve high net worth individuals, above the line talent and industry executives, with issues ranging from valuation, complicated compensation structures,  spousal support, child support and child custody issues as well as paternity and domestic violence actions. Harlee’s strength lies in her ability to effectively strategize and diffuse even the most intense situations. Nicknamed “The Vault” for her unfailing confidentiality, her calm demeanor enables Harlee to manage her client’s expectations.

As Harlee often says about the nature of her practice, “I see the very best people at the absolute worst time in their life so it is gratifying to be able to help and make a positive impact.” Through intensive pre-trial preparation, Harlee is able to analyze and settle cases from a position of strength but proceed to trial if necessary. Long after the matter is concluded, her clients are confident that she was both an advocate and an ally.

Harlee volunteers for the Women in Film Sexual Harassment Hotline where she provides legal assistance and guidance to victims of sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.
