Monica’s practice focuses on complex real estate litigation, land use, and environmental matters.  She advises clients through land use entitlement, post-approval condition compliance, and litigation.

Monica is experienced in all aspects of litigation in state and federal court as well as representation before administrative agencies.  Monica has extensive knowledge of the California Coastal Act and has successfully represented clients before the California Coastal Commission.  She also regularly works with cities and counties in the coastal zone and advises clients on all aspects of coastal zone entitlement.  Monica has represented and assisted clients with real property disputes in both state and federal court.  She has handled cases from pre-litigation investigation to trial, and has particular experience formulating and implementing comprehensive discovery plans with special emphasis on complex e-discovery issues.

Monica is committed to pro-bono matters and has successfully represented unaccompanied minors in asylum proceedings.  She is active in the Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association, serving as the Regional Mentorship Co-Chair for the Judicial Internship Opportunity Program (JIOP).

Monica served as an article editor for the California Law Review, co-Editor-in-Chief for the Berkeley La Raza Law Journal, and as co-chair for the Berkeley La Raza Law Students Association during law school.  She was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Richard A. Paez, United States Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit during this time.
